Usage of Near Infrared Spectrometer as An Analyzing Tool for Nutrients in Leaf, Fertilizer and Soil in Oil Palm Industry

Usage of Near Infrared Spectrometer as An Analyzing Tool for Nutrients in Leaf, Fertilizer and Soil in Oil Palm Industry

Abstract. In oil palm industry, a huge money is used for chemical items to carry out examination on samples especially for leaf (foliar), fertilizer and soil. However, with advent of FOSS NIRS DS2500 technology, there is a huge reduction in chemical usage in laboratories. Results were attained in less than a minute while covering many parameters in a single scanning. This tool uses the technology of Near Infra Red Spectroscopy (NIRS) to scan the particles of the substance and thus, elements are detected within NIRS wavelength region. FOSS NIRS DS2500 uses a broad wavelength range of 400 to 2500nm, covering a highest possible performance across on any chemical elements/molecules. Furthermore, there is accurate analysis results for a wide range of parameters, such as oil content, moisture co

Monitoring of pH Level for Maximising Oil Palm FFB Yields
Abstract. Depending on the location of estates and types of soils, monitoring of pH changes is an integral part of soil-water management for realizing a sustainable Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) yields. In Sumber Tani Agung Resources Tbk, fluctuations in pH level in field blocks as well as nearby drains were monitored since 2019. Monitoring of pH was done on two types of soils namely peat (three estates in North Sumatra) and acid sulfate soils (two estates in South Sumatra). Piezometer was established in each block in all five estates and pH readings was taken biweekly, including at nearby watergates for comparison. Due to presence of pyritic layers, pH values in estates with acid sulfate soils were lower than those of planted on peat. Keeping water level at 40-70 cm on peat and at 45-60 c

Enhancing Oil Palm FFB Yields by Water Management: Sumber Tani Agung Resources’ Experiences
Abstract. Oil palms (Elaeis guineensis) are generally able to grow economically on various soil types, especially across the regions of Malaysia and Indonesia. However, in flood-prone areas, oil palms were producing lesser Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB). Due to frequent flooding incidences palm growth were generally stunted, and in extreme cases there were huge losses of palms. In this paper, commercial FFB yield of Seret Ayon Estate and Lembah Bawang Estate, near Sambas in West Kalimantan, Indonesia is collected and compared to those from before and after the implementation of efficient water management by embankment. Annual rainfall of this region would fall within 3500 mm - 4000 mm. Out of this, almost 30-40% of the total annual rainfall is recorded in the period of October-December. Furth
