Fire Prevention and Handling

The company remains consistent and maintains its commitment to preventing and handling land fires by fulfilling the facilities and infrastructure for managing land and plantation fires based on government regulations (Permentan 5/2018). Thus, each work unit has a monitoring tower, firefighting equipment and a reservoir which is used as a water source to maintain water availability during the dry season.

The company also has a Fire Emergency Response Preparedness Team (FERPT) which has been trained through guidance and direction from Manggala Agni. This team routinely carries out simulations and training at each site. Not only that, each work unit also carries out routine patrols to find out which areas are prone to fires, especially when the dry season comes. STAA also has an early warning system that is able to detect hot spots both in and around the STAA concession.
